A protest of more than 50 people rallied outside the Ubisoft Halifax studio, following the announcement of the closure. The decision to close the studio came after workers announced they would unionise with CWA. The protest was called to support the workers and demand that Ubisoft reverse the decision. One of the calls during the demonstration was to recover the $12 million in subsidies the Nova Scotia Film and Digital Media Tax Credit had provided to the company.
