Workers at Blizzard Entertainment ratify union contract
Workers organising with CWA voted to ratify their union contract with Blizzard Entertainment (a Microsoft-owned company). After two years of bargaining, the contract will cover 1,900 workers across World of Warcraft, Quality Assurance, Hearthstone and Warcraft Rumble, Overwatch, Diablo, and Blizzard's Platform & Technology, Story, and Franchise Development units. The contract includes wage increases, grievance procedures, a three-day in-office hybrid workweek, “just cause” protections, remote work and disability accommodations, and a requirement to discuss, evaluate and bargain over the use of AI. The contract also includes workers laid off by the company to be "recalled" into open positions across the bargaining unit for 14 months, as well as an extra 4 weeks of severance pay.
